Understand why we are using our fabrics

Why we choose our fabric

To truly understand the fabrics we choose for our products, we traveled to the UAE. We wanted to see what locals were wearing and more importantly, understand why they choose those fabrics for their daily lives.

Why Emiratis choose a polyester-cotton blend

Many people assume polyester is uncomfortable, but during our search for a cotton-only thobe in the UAE, we found none. That made us ask: why? The answer is practicality: Emiratis prefer polyester blends because they’re durable, easy to care for, and breathable enough for the region’s intense heat.

How we choose our fabrics

For us, fabric selection is hands-on. At the tailor’s, we touch, test, and compare. We feel every option, compare textures, and ask what’s trusted locally. If it doesn’t feel right, we don’t use it.

The Fort & The Tamr

For the Fort and the Tamr, we use a premium Japanese fabric that’s lightweight, breathable, and exceptionally soft: a favourite in the UAE for its comfort and performance in the heat.

Sandstone Beige & Monsoon Mist

For Monsoon Mist and Sandstone Beige, we chose a fabric with a buttery-soft texture: the most popular everyday fabric in the UAE. It’s trusted by local tailors and wearers alike because it feels right, wears well, and reflects how thobes are truly worn: with comfort and function at the forefront.

The Ghaf

For the Ghaf we use a 100% polyester material that's thick, lightweight and very easy to care for. Inspired by the way Omanis wear their thobes, we chose this fabric for its structure and practicality. While it’s less soft than a cotton blend, it delivers a clean, tailored look that stays sharp from morning to evening.
